Creating a “Digital Demand Commons” to Anticipate the Needs of 8 Billion People:
The world population is racing toward 8 billion (by 2025, by some estimates), but as a society we don’t have a strong, consolidated understanding of what that means in terms of basic human need. Project 8 is a collaboration between the United Nations, the United Nations Foundation, The Demand Institute (jointly operated by Nielsen and The Conference Board), Salesforce and Accenture. Together with other public- and private-sector organizations, Project 8 is building a “digital demand commons,” an online research collaboration platform to help the world better anticipate and prepare for the needs of a changing population. This session presents a working example of lean social entrepreneurship, the “data revolution,” and the power of multi-stakeholder collaborations tackling the world’s toughest problems.
Presenters:
Lori Freeman, Director of Product Marketing, Salesforce Foundation
Nic Covey, Executive Director, United Nations Relationship, Nielsen & The Demand Institute
