Inspiring Entrepreneurs: Build a Startup Community
Over the last decade, the New York City startup scene has boomed, surpassing Boston as the second largest city for venture spending in the US. NYU is centered squarely in the center of that startup ecosystem. In this panel, we’ll discuss how NYU has cultivated a robust startup community, both within our university and the broader NYC startup ecosystem. We'll give an overview of the strategy we've implemented to build and foster the community, sharing specific programs, events, and resources that have been successful at NYU that other universities, cities, or organizations could replicate. We will address three categories of programming that contribute to the creation of a startup ecosystem:
Physical spaces – incubators and centers – that bring people together.
Community-building events that promote and celebrate successful NYU entrepreneurs to inspire others.
Networks and clubs – among students, faculty, and mentors – that facilitate collaboration.
