Using Touch in Creative Design of an Experience
In this session David Birnbaum will discuss how touch feedback in UI and UX design provides new opportunities to think creatively about the current two-dimensional digital devices experience.
In his study of musical instrument design, David, a thereminist, discovered that the lack of touch adversely impacts instrument play. This led him to his current role as a designer at a company working on tactile tech for digital devices.
90% of all media interactions are screen-based. Tech is progressing to the point touch can now be a part of the experience with digital devices. Engaging the sense of touch adds an entire dimension to the user experience. For developers this new palette enables a new form of experiential creative expression. David will talk through use cases where touch tech has spur innovative thinking around digital experience. David will also discuss how designing touch interfaces is a skillset both separate from and tied to visual and audio experience.
