I’m moving to Paris. I’ve spent a lot of time teaching others how to optimize the office of the future, and have helped to build an amazing HQ in San Francisco. Now I’m quite literally getting away.
The office of the future may be fantastic, but thanks to software, the office extends beyond its own walls. GitHub has a wonderful HQ, and we allow employees remote access to fit their own lifestyle. But the experience is different and there are difficulties.
I am going into the trenches of the remote workforce to really understand the pain points and improve the experience. As I explore my own “forkable feast,” I want to share with you what I learn along the way, today’s challenges in the remote workforce, and what we can do to enhance the experience for remote employees. This isn't just about the tools we use, but how we truly empower collaboration across borders and time zones and make sure the culture of the company persists to those across the world.
