Creating Connections Through Serendipitous Design
What if we designed products that enable us to take risks and explore the unknown? Everything we do in technology and design is about solving problems and offering us control, but to what extent are we the ones in control?
Apps help us easily stay in touch with friends, avoid bad restaurants and travel smarter and in style. But what serendipitous experiences are we missing as a result? From getting lost in a new city to befriending a shopkeeper, how are we not growing, not feeling and maybe not even understanding ourselves?
Come discuss how our interactions — from visual to haptic, explicit to invisible, or crafted to freeform — can help mediate serendipity and exploration in our lives, and how design can fundamentally reflect and enable connection with our lives and technology.
