Cinematic Virtual Reality: Immersive Storytelling
Panelists will discuss their experiences mixing spectacle and story while trailblazing the new medium of virtual reality in their films "The Mission", "Kaiju Fury!" and "Black Mass."
Discussion will include insights into the entire process of virtual reality production. The panel will delve into how each director crafted their story, within its genre, to play to the strengths and infinite possibilities of a 360 degree field of view. They will share the joys and frustrations of day-to-day photography while taking into consideration technical parameters. With their combined extensive knowledge of post, the filmmakers will provide their perspectives of developing and evolving post tools and processes for VR. Lastly, they will share the critical role collaboration plays between the creative and technical teams in writing the visual language of VR.
