Shawnna, Rashawnna Guy, was born into music. The daughter of blues guitarist, Buddy Guy, Shawnna began writing music during her high school days. Not content with simply following in the footsteps those before her, Shawnna set out to develop her own style, eventually crafting herself a female adaptation of the rapid-fire Chicago style pioneered by the likes of Do or Die and Twista.

Shawnna became part of the duo, Infamous Syndicate, opening for the likes of Junior M.A.F.I.A. in Chicago. In 1997, the duo signed to Relativity Records and released their debut album, Changing the Game, two years later. Infamous Syndicate eventually left Relativity Records and parted ways, but Shawnna continued to perfect her craft and was signed to Disturbing ThaPeace Records/Def Jam.
Shawnna appeared on Ludacris’ single “What’s Your Fantasy.” She also appeared on the remix to Mariah Carey’s “Loverboy” from the movie soundtrack for Glitte...
