Curtis McMurtry writes songs about selfishness and spite.
Most inspired by songwriters like Townes Van Zandt, Leonard Cohen and Fiona Apple, Curtis's songs are lyrically-driven and are designed to make vindictive, guilty feelings relatable.
Musically, Curtis is influenced by Jazz composers Thelonious Monk and Django Reinhardt as well as classical giants Igor Stravinsky and Aaron Copland. Curtis studied music composition in college, plays guitar and banjo, and will perform as a trio with a cellist and an upright bassist.
In 2014, Curtis toured nationally promoting his solo debut album Respectable Enemy, and performed on NPR's Mountain Stage alongside Norah Jones, Blake Mills, and others.
