The Benny Turner and Real Blues band shares years of experience as band members of the late Marva Wright, Blues Queen of New Orleans. Benny served as Marva's bass player and band leader for more than 20 years. Prior to that he played bass for his brother, blues legend Freddie King, and later joined Chicago blues master Mighty Joe Young for more than 8 years. Benny's musical influences reach far and wide, beginning with down home country blues, merging with the late 50's/early 60's Chicago soul, R&B and gospel sounds, adding some houserockin' blues and culminating with the New Orleans funky grooves, to create a true musical gumbo and signature sound. After the 2014 release of critically-acclaimed "Journey", Benny and the band are excited to spread their wings beyond New Orleans and share their REAL BLUES far and wide!
