Facebook knows everything about you - but what does that mean? Edward Snowden exposed that the NSA was tracking ordinary citizens - why should you care?

In this workshop you’ll learn why you and your company should be concerned about your online security, and where you are vulnerable to having your data exposed. Hint: it’s everywhere from your computer, to your phone, even to your baby monitors. Led by Amadeus Stevenson, CTO of Decoded, the global company giving professionals a high-level understanding of code, cybersecurity and more - attendees are going to hack themselves - yes, themselves. Armed with a greater knowledge to keep both their personal and professional information safe from prying eyes, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the holes in the fabric of our modern world.

The workshop will begin with an exploration of what makes computers vulnerable to attack (viruses, malware, bugs and zero-day vulnerabilities). It then goes into the infrastructure with which we communicate. From GSM and WiFi to fibre optic cables, our internet traffic can be intercepted by anyone who cares to listen. How can encryption be used to secure these messages? Finally, we will end with the human side of security: people still present the biggest opportunity for malicious hackers. How can you protect your business against data leaks, phishing and social engineering?
