Turbocharging Social Activism with Data Standards: From Marriage Equality to International Human Rights. There are a million different systems & tools available to organizations doing policy & advocacy work - why is moving data between them so damn hard? Shouldn’t we have figured this out by now? Well, there is hope: the Open Supporter Data Interface (OSDI) is a common API defined by a critical mass of progressive vendors and organizations that allows for data to move easily between systems.
The existence of a common API reduces customer costs related to moving data between different systems & enhances the ability of innovators to create products for the marketplace. Data silos & closed systems have hampered the progressive movement since its inception. OSDI changes that by helping tools "talk" to each other while keeping data in sync. It puts the client, not the tool, more in control when integrating.
