JW Marriott

As a general rule, we want to make things easier, faster, and more enjoyable for people using our products. We try to minimize steps, streamline flows, and reduce the amount of decision making for people. But are there times where adding friction to an experience can help the product experience

In this talk, we’ll discuss how adding the right type of friction can help users better understand your product and want to build a long-term relationship with you.
We’ll provide a case study about Lumosity and tell you about the 3 principles, or points of friction, that have helped us establish long-term relationships with our users. We’ll also introduce 3 questions that you can use as a guide to strike the right balance between ease and understanding.
