The Film Score Workshop

Sunday, March 15
2:00PM - 3:00PM

InterContinental Stephen F. Austin
Capital Ballroom B
701 Congress Ave

Fp42609

This workshop brings a new perspective on the production and creation of soundtracks for films by composing a soundtrack live on top of a scene. The presentation begins with a short show reel of the speakers. Next, we present the workflow of a job and how to begin working it into the production of audio in a sound studio. In the third stage of the lecture speakers present a scene from a silent film and propose the creation of the soundtrack in the same time along with the audience. With only a few electric instruments and many virtual synths, creation is very fast and agile, for everyone to give feedback about the track. After the music production is done, we bring up the director of that specific film and open the floor for discussion on the path that the scene and its proposed track took. It's a different way of making the public understand how the creation of a soundtrack works and also the value that this has for the world of cinema.
