Spotlight on Holland
We’re celebrating Dutch innovation at SXSW during Spotlight on Holland – an event that will showcase some of the best entrepreneurs, startups and artists from the Netherlands. Held at Bar 96 at The Dutch Base on Monday, March 10, the event will allow SXSW attendees to experience what the Dutch have to offer and mingle with representatives from the worlds of Dutch art and technology.
Three speakers will represent some of the finest and boldest in Dutch innovation:
· Daan Roosegaarde, founder of Studio Roosegarde, is one of the leading designers of his generation, and artfully navigates the boundary between the Internet and real life.
· Taco Carlier, founder of VanMoof, makes bicycles that are revolutionizing the modern commute.
· Alexander Klöpping is a wunderkind net entrepreneur and fresh off of hosting three broadcasts with DWDD University, a popular TV program in the Netherlands.
Making the SXSWi event interactive, Drome’s LED wristbands will dictate the flow of the presentations by Dutch companies, including Surfly, Layergloss, Pauline Van Dongen of Wearable Solar, Circus Family, and Bottlenose. A crowd-sourced light show from guests’ wrists will emanate through the room when the speakers’ times come to a close.
Guests will then be free to mingle as they test drive and familiarize themselves with participating Dutch companies by playing with, viewing, and feeling the products. They will be able to ride VanMoof’s smart electric bicycle, get a mini 3D printed figure of themselves from Shapeways, playing a riff of their favorite songs on Chordify, and meet the impressive Dutch founders/creators themselves.
