When somethings indescribable - that usually means it's good. People leave this woman's show speechless. Rachel Thomas AKA KSRA blends timbalandesque hip hop beats, 60's soul, pop melodies and a folk earnestness to create what she describes as Vortex Music - taking everything around her and centering it in introspection. Thomas delivers dance-able, ear-worm-pop melodies that haunt and awe. Her vocal range is just as impressive as her ability to dance barefoot on her pedals, which she uses to manipulate sound and sample herself live. Thomas has the ability to captivate an audience with just her voice and her ivory Wurlitzer. In 2014 SXSW and single featuring Talib Kweli are just the beginning of a promising year. While compared to Grimes and Florence and the Machine, Thomas is an original. After two years in the Chicago scene KSRA has an EP titled PETRA, out on Soundcloud. Known for traveling cross country with her gear in the backseat, KSRA insists on building connections with her audience through live shows and creating a grassroots following.
