Listen to Wake Up

Esprit De Corps is a new Atlanta-based music group focused on creating reggae/soul music with an 80’s-style influence. Taken literally, the term “Esprit De Corps” refers to the ability of a group to maintain pride, loyalty, morale and fellowship to an institution or oneself and others. Esprit De Corps the brainchild of Grammy award winning producer/mixer Neal H Pogue whom wanted a fresh, unique spin on reggae music consists of lead vocalist/bassist Shock Mama Cherry and her sidekick DJ Roots Queen.

Shock Mama Cherry’s early roots were in the heart of Brooklyn, where she began writing poetry and music at the early age of 10. By the age of 16, she was signed to a record label and began writing, producing, recording and performing soul music on a much broader scale. Since that time, Cherry has been working in and around the music industry in a variety of capacities (including writing for artists such as Jaheim and Dwele) and has even delved into modeling and acting.

DJ Roots Queen, originally from Florida, now a resident ATLien, this female master of the turntables gets respect for her wicked spinning of those "Riddims". Roots Queen fell in love with music as a little girl, listening to it with her father. Her reputation speaks for itself within the West Indian DJ Community, earning the respect of some of the best in the business. Now, as a 17 year veteran, DJ Roots Queen, continues to break down barriers in her field. Roots Queen can be heard on "Rude Girl Radio" on the world famous DJ Clue's radio station www.desertstormradio.com.

Shock Mama and Roots Queens mutual love of Reggae makes their collaboration Esprit De Corps.
