DJ Pierre

Back in the day when acid was just a tab, DJ Pierre was holed up in his bedroom inventing a sound which would impact on the music scene forever. In 1986, 'acid house' was in its infancy when DJ Pierre aka PHUTURE picked up a 303 and the infamous "Acid Trax" was born. DJ Pierre was forever etched in music history as a pioneer of a new musical genre we now call “Acid House”.

Not many artists in the history of dance music can list Carl Cox, Junior Vasquez, Danny Tenaglia, Michael Mayer and Daft Punk as fans. Not many can claim responsibility for helping kick start the careers of Felix Da Housecat and Roy Davis Jr. Not many can lay claim to giving birth to a genre and pioneering a sound that had the entire music world jumping and imitating for over 20 years. Nathaniel "Pierre” Jones AKA DJ ‘Wildpitch' Pierre is a rare breed. More than an artist in his own right, he is considered a mentor and influence to many of the A-list DJ fraternity, old and new including Steve Aoki, Laidback Luke, Tommie Sunshine, Harvard Bass and Boys Noize to name a few. He is one man who continues to stand strong in an industry that's had its ups ‘n' downs.

From the days of ‘Phuture', Pierre's highly successful guise with fellow squelchers Spanky and Herb J - from the epic release ‘Acid Trax' to his biggest hit, ‘The Horn Song,' which features Barbara Tucker – to his solo projects with Louie Vega, David Morales, Felix Da Housecat, and more recently Boys Noize and Carl Cox, Laidback Luke and his stint as Head of A&R at Strictly Rhythm (back in the day) make him a force to be reckoned with.

After over 25 years in the scene there is no denying the position carved out for him. He is an established legend. But you would never know it from him personally because being in his presence there is a huge sense of humility mixed with a keen sense of awareness of who he is. But he is not shouting it from the hilltops, rather, we see it in his still amazing productions and his hi-energy, soul-touching dj sets. We see it in the calm confidence as he takes to the stage or on a collaboration with some of today’s biggest names. “Classic” as he is, he has transcended an entire generation reaching new fans at Space Ibiza, Coachella, Tomorrowland/World, Incubate, Mysteryland and more. At a dj Pierre set, prepared to be pleasantly surprised as you never know where he will take you. He is a true artist allowing himself to grow creatively and in the end he somehow seems to speak the language of the new clubbers. He remains relevant and extremely humble.

He is even more in demand today than he was 20 years ago and you see this when the new school brands like Bioler Room, Red Bull Music Academy, and Mixmag TV all grabbed him up for features.

Don’t take our word for it...here is DJ Pierre “The Phuture”…

"I feel a renewed sense of direction in my career. I've never had so many positive things in place at one time like I do now. I am humbled by what's happening." - DJ Pierre
