Bent Denim

66258

Bent Denim builds beautifully fragmented narrative-driven songs by swapping tracks over email between their respective home bases of Nashville and New Orleans.

Ben: Bent Denim was born out of questionable sampling and despair stemming from a city that’s either too saturated or obsessed with trying to not be. Tired of for hire gigs and lifeless players, bent denim has served as a catharsis in response to making music sans emotion.

Dennis: Bent Denim is Southern Gothic Nyquil nightmare pop. I am obsessed with fiction. Not necessarily as an escape, but as a way to understand someone's point of view. I am consistently amazed by life from through another's words. Reading fiction is a positive externality on society, it makes people better people. It renders the general population more empathetic and understanding of humans different from them. Using songs as a vector, we try to give quick glimpse into worlds with rules, boundaries and expectations. I am fascinated by the inner monologue of characters in between dialogue, the unspoken. We are children of post-colonial era. I am crippled with guilt of America's turbulent social past. We are trying to make something out of nothing.
