Lou Reed: A Rock & Roll Heart
From his very first songs with the Velvet Underground, Lou Reed went for the jugular. He brought the reality and emotions of his favorite literary authors to rock & roll songs- and on "Heroin," "Sister Ray," "Candy Says" and "Sweet Jane," he did just that. Once he went solo, and for the next 40 years, Lou Reed always told the truth. The music he created stands alone, and when the chronic New Yorker died in October, he left the kind of mark that only a handful of musicians can claim. This discussion of Lou Reed's legacy by some of his friends and fellow musicians will remember and celebrate his fine, fine music.
