Net Neutrality: What Now?

#sxsw #neutralnet

Earlier this year, a federal appeals court threw out the FCC’s open Internet rules, effectively killing Net Neutrality. What does this decision really mean for Internet users, and what comes next?

In this session, Craig Aaron, President & CEO of Free Press, and Andrew Rasiej, co-founder of Personal Democracy Forum, will discuss what led to this decision and what an Internet without Net Neutrality would look like (hint: it will look a little like cable TV).

The political roadblocks to restoring Net Neutrality are many — including massive lobbyist influence over Congress and, in turn, the FCC. And Net Neutrality is actually the tip of the Internet freedom iceberg — our basic abilities to connect and communicate are being placed at risk by big telecom providers, too. Attendees will leave this discussion with a better sense of why Net Neutrality matters, and how they can fight to get it back.
