Know Your Customers: Using Low Power Sensors

#sxsw #Customer

I’ve been working on product design for big corporations, for small companies and for my own startups. Each time I come to a point where I need to know more about how the users behave. Why are they not using a new feature? Or worse, why are they not using my product?

I set out to learn how quantitative data and analytics from wireless sensors can help to better understand user behavior. Attaching small low power sensors to the human body allows to measure physical movement and emotional state without the use of expensive equipment in laboratory-like settings.

In this session, you will learn:
-How to design and implement a low power sensor system
-What are the practical limits of low power sensing
-How to analyze and interpret sensor data from the human body and what behavioral patterns can be derived
-How to use sensors in Design Research
-How to design better product using both qualitative and quantitative measures
