A UX Fisherman's Guide to Hooking Users
The most basic technology and process we use today to fish was introduced 40,000 years ago. While human factors and user experience (UX) are more recent sciences, they are more similar to fishing than you may think. Let’s explore the history and evolution of fishing, and what the art and science of fly fishing can teach us about the future of UX. From fly patterns to casting techniques, we'll wade in the water together and learn how to hook tomorrow's changing user.

By day, I do UX at a national quasi-government agency. By night, I brainstorm with a small hatch of UX social do-gooders. Once band geek, twice father and forever a Wildcat, I was farm-raised in rural Kansas and am now rooted in Kansas City raising two kids, two cats and two social startups. I’m inspired by dot connecting and patterny. I aspire to be a better analogist and fisherman. And I’m uninspired by marathon running.
