Owning Identity: A Conversation with Tony Conrad
The average consumer’s online identity is segmented across the web on platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and WordPress. about.me co-founder and CEO Tony Conrad and his team recognized the need for people to have one central location where they can represent their full online identity. The team developed about.me to serve as that space–personal, curated pages where individual online services, like Twitter and Facebook, play unique roles in building components of a user’s online presence. Beyond providing people with more control over their personal brand, Tony has built his personal brand as a thought leader in establishing identity through his time as an investor in companies like WordPress.com, Blue Bottle Coffee and MakerBot; his investor insight has guided his role as a founder. Tony will sit down with The Wall Street Journal’s Evelyn Rusli to discuss the state of online identity, how to build a personal brand online and how he expects identity to evolve.
