Relieving Frustration: Porn & User Experience
Love it or hate it, the adult entertainment industry has played a major role in shaping the digital landscape. Porn websites, in particular, have often been at the forefront of meeting the shifting needs of users. These sites, while maybe not cited as frequently (or openly) as Amazon or Zappos, offer myriad lessons for user experience designers and other creators of digital experiences. In this conversation, we'll discuss the ways in which porn websites, both major and niche, have addressed challenges related to site search, content management, social activation, multi-device compatibility, and broader accessibility. We'll propose how these lessons can help relieve user frustration beyond adult entertainment.

Throughout his career, Steve’s passion for creating engaging experiences has taken many forms. He got his start in interior design creating custom interiors for residential clients in Chicago. Eventually, he progressed into hospitality design where he worked with brands like Marriott and Westin, creating distinctive guest experiences. While working with these organizations, Steve became interested in the power of digital experiences and how they intersect with the real world, which led him to DePaul University’s Masters of HCI program and the digital advertising industry.
Currently, Steve is a User Experience Designer with Blast Radius in Chicago, IL where he spends his time designing digital engagements for organizations like HP, Allsteel Office Furniture and Masterbrand Cabinets
