Arena vs. Couch: The Battle of Game Day Experience
Tricked-out home entertainment systems and rising ticket prices make it easier than ever for sports fans to skip the stadium and watch from home. It's increasingly difficult to compete with the creature comforts of a 70-inch screen and beers from the fridge. The future of sports entertainment will be determined by how teams, media companies and tech upstarts package experiences to engage fans. Is it software-driven stadiums or HD and the second screen? And how do we keep the authenticity of the stadium experience in the era of pull-to-refresh iPhones and iPads?
SF Giants Social Media Director, Bryan Srabian; Univ. of Michigan Athletics Director, Digital Marketing, Jordan Maleh; and tech startup, SportStream, CEO Bob Morgan are top contenders in bringing fans exactly what they want, wherever they want. Sports Business Journal’s John Ourand will lead a discussion to uncover how these leaders apply technology and social media to attract fans to their experiences in venue and out. This session is part of the brand new SXsports programming at SXSW 2014.
