SXSW Accelerator: Entertainment & Content Tech

SXSW Accelerator pitch event presented by Oracle is a platform to allow early stage technology startups to pitch their product and/or services to industry technology experts, high profiled media personnel, and Venture Capitalists / Angel Investors. Eight companies within the Entertainment & Content Technologies category will dazzle a live audience, panel of three judges and co-emcees with their ideas, innovations, product and/or service on Saturday, March 8. Three of those eight companies will be asked to return on day two, Sunday, March 9, to present to a new group of co-emcees and judges. A grand prize winner for each category will be selected at the end of day two as part of the evening SXSW Accelerator Awards Ceremony.

The Entertainment & Content Technologies category highlights technologies for news, publishing, gaming, music, film, television, video, streaming and digital storytelling, as well as new and hybrid forms of these ideas. These are reinventing the ways in which we learn, relax and enjoy our time. This category also contains technologies that focus on other cultural sectors such as sports, travel, mapping, publishing and food as they pertain to entertainment.

Kay Koplovitz Founder of USA Network, and Chairman and CEO of Koplovitz & Co. LLC. Kay Koplovitz is the Founder of USA Network, and the Sci-Fi Channel and USA Networks International and the visionary who created the business model for cable networks by introducing the concept of two revenue streams – licensing and advertising. . Ms. Koplovitz served as Chairperson & CEO until the company was sold for $4.5 Billion in 1998. Presently, Ms. Koplovitz is the Chairman of the Board of Fifth & Pacific (Formerly Liz Claiborne Inc.) She is a Board Member of CA Technology, as well as ION Media. She has also served on the boards of Oracle, Nabisco, Instinet and General Re.
In 1998, President Clinton appointed Ms. Koplovitz to chair the National Women in Business Council.
