In recent years, a huge amount of money has flowed into projects focused on digital health, fueled by the knowledge that the needs of patients and physicians have historically been poorly served by online tools and systems. However, despite the flurry of activity, the world of digital health may not be as well as it appears. Many projects are similar in scope, have weak business models or appear to be developed in isolation and not connected to the existing health system. The phrase “pending bubble burst” is increasingly being whispered in different circles. Through this panel, seasoned investors, analysts and entrepreneurs will tackle the question that is on everyone’s lips – is the digital health bubble about to burst and if so, what will the future hold?

Marco has worked as business unit leader, entrepreneur, biz dev VP, trusted advisor, and creative dealmaker in startups (Spectral Genomics – acquired), industry leaders (Affymetrix) and top-tier strategy consulting firms (incl. Monitor Company, A.T. Kearney).

At Spectral Genomics, he negotiated game-changing deals with Affymetrix, Life Technologies, etc. and helped to raise $9.3 Million in Series B funding.

Marco started and led Health 2.0 Advisors, Health 2.0’s Healthcare Innovation Analytics & Acceleration business unit, as its president until 2013. He is now managing director of NIHP.

Robert Stern, MA is the founder and CEO of @Point of Care, a point-of-care decision-making mobile platform for HCP’s that also connects patients’ with their HCP’s via a companion patient app to monitor patient progress between office visits.

Stern is also the founder and CEO of Projects In Knowledge, an ACCME-accredited provider of continuing medical education, and founder and CEO of MedPage Today, an award-winning website that provides original reporting of breaking medical news, acquired by Everyday Health in 2010, and serves on the advisory board.

Previously, Stern was the president of CMEinfo.com, a producer of board review and medical update courses for physicians; co-founder of Fingertip Formulary, a website that provides formulary drug status for health plans; and editor of Genome, the first anthology devoted to exploring how the human geno me was mapped.

Stern serves as a Mentor at Blueprint Health and a participant in StartUp Health, and is an investor in heath care startups and funds.
