Innovative Apps Are Key to Wearable Tech Adoption

#sxsw #Wearables

Smart glasses, smart watches and activity monitors are hitting the market in droves, and many of the biggest consumer electronics companies are expected to launch more wearables over the next year. Are wearables simply part of a new hype cycle or is there a real market for them? What will it take to drive mass adoption by consumers and enterprises? Arguably, the key driver will be the creation of innovative applications and an ecosystem of hardware, software and application developers working together. This session will discuss the most compelling business opportunities for wearables, such as true 3D augmented reality for logistics, training, wellness and other enterprise uses. It will also delve into captivating applications such as gestural computing, voice and even mind control. While there are still challenges for mainstream adoption including behavior change, form factor and privacy, innovative applications for wearables will pave the way for transforming the connected lifestyle.
