Born in Eastern Iowa, Jordan Roseman moved to Evanston, Illinois in his early teens where he completed grade school and went on to high school. Afterwards, he attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana attaining dual degrees in Music Theory and Computer Science. He then moved to Chicago where he worked in the music industry as a producer and original songwriter before moving to San Francisco to continue pursuing his musical dreams.
It was here in California that he would further his electronic production skills and begin crafting his unique brand of musical composition. In 2003 he began creating mashups recreationally and friends who heard his work encouraged him choose a moniker and become a mashup artist. He chose the name DJ “Earworm”; a loan translation of the German word Ohrwurm, it’s a portion of a song or other music that repeats compulsively within one's mind, or simply "music being stuck in one's head."
He began releasing his songs on his website and quickly attained a loyal following, getting invited to perform as the resident DJ during the 2005 MTV Music Video Awards in South Beach; spinning at concerts, parties and VIP events that weekend.
Around this time his mashup expertise was becoming legendary and in early 2006 he was approached by Wiley Publishing to write about his craft. The resulting book, “Audio Mashup Construction Kit”, was the first of its’ kind focused specifically on this new musical genre; a groundbreaking guide for those people interested in understanding and producing mashups.
His first breakout radio hit, “United State of Pop 2007” mashed-up twenty-five of the biggest pop hits of that year sending a buzz throughout the blogosphere and music industry as it climbed to #71 on the CHR/Top 40 charts. The following year’s “United State of Pop 2008 (Viva la Pop)” marked the first time he created a video for the song – it rose to #58 on the charts and has reached 11 million YouTube views, bringing label commissions to produce mashups for Lady Gaga and Maroon 5.
Keeping with tradition, Earworm released “United State of Pop 2009 (Blame it on the Pop)” a truly global sensation, peaking at #50 on the charts and surpassing over 42 Million YouTube views since its release. It was a busy year as the record labels hired him to produce mashups for Sean Kingston and Annie Lennox, Capital FM Radio commissioned him to create a “Summertime Ball” mashup for their annual Wembley Stadium Concert and he was invited as a guest speaker at the IDEA Conference New York City. That year the San Francisco Bay Guardian named earworm 2009’s “Best Electronic Music Act”.
2010 saw Earworm producing mashup commercials for Coca-Cola, Vevo and a host of other companies. He was hired to produce a mashup for Nelly Furtado and a few months later “United State of Pop 2010 (Don’t Stop the Pop)” was released and it too was an instant hit, rising to #45 on the CHR Radio Pop Charts and garnering over 15 Million YouTube views.
In 2011 he won two Sony Radio Academy Awards: Gold (Best single promo/commercial) and Silver (Best promotional/Ad Campaign) for his mashup video “Like, OMG Baby” which has 12 million YouTube views – he scored another radio hit with “Party on the Floor” (created for London’s Capital FM Radio), which has 8 million views. The same year he was approached by Disney to do a remix for the “Pirates of the Caribbean 4” soundtrack and in September he brought his talents to NBC TV as musical consultant for a special “mega-mix” episode of the TV show “The Sing-Off”.
His biggest commission to date came in 2012 when he was approached by the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games to create several custom mashups that were played at all of the sporting venues across London during the 2012 Olympics. He was also invited to perform live as a DJ for the Olympic Boxing and Field Hockey Gold Medal events.
His continuing string of hits has him very much in demand around the globe as a DJ and VJ (Video Jockey) for events in fashion, business, clubs and private parties. He also continually donates his time and efforts to worthwhile causes throughout the world and strives to make a difference with his music. With a clear vision and a host of unique, innovative ideas Earworm is continually pushing boundaries as an artist and is focused on helping shape the future
