Pallbearer
Pallbearer is a four piece metal band from Little Rock, Arkansas, founded in 2008 by bassist Joseph D. Rowland and guitarist/vocalist Brett Campbell, after time spent playing in various bands around the Little Rock underground metal scene. Being joined shortly thereafter by guitarist Devin Holt and a rotating cast of percussionists, the band eventually solidified its line-up with the addition of Mark Lierly on drums.
Building on a musical foundation of vintage doomed metal and progressive rock while still looking wholly forward, Pallbearer forged cult success through their initial three-song demo offering in 2010 and rare, cathartic live performances. Two years later in 2012, their debut full-length "Sorrow and Extinction" was released on Profound Lore Records, which garnered the band near universal critical acclaim; among its accolades were being named Metal Album of the Year by Pitchfork (and garnering their coveted Best New Music tag) and numerous top spots on year-end lists from major media outlets such as NPR, SPIN, Entertainment Weekly and many more.
Combining melody and heaviness in a way that can appeal as easily to fans of Pink Floyd and Codeine as as die-hard Black Sabbath devotees, the band marches slowly onward to deliver its crushing and beautiful gloom on a global scale.
