A self-described “American rock ‘n’ roll band,” Dawes represent everything pure and true about that fundamental delineation, four talented friends making music together, united by a shared belief in the power of their songs. The Los Angeles-based band – singer/guitarist Taylor Goldsmith, his brother Griffin on drums, keyboardist Tay Strathairn, and bassist Wylie Gelber – emerged in 2009 with North Hills, a timeless debut album that received immediate applause for its blend of singer/songwriter reflection with folk, country, and AOR-inspired arrangements, all ringing guitars, soaring harmonies, and heartfelt melodies.

Like any great rock ‘n’ roll band worth its salt, Dawes followed the album’s release by touring nearly non-stop, honing their already impressive chops and gathering the experiences that would fuel their masterful second album, 2011’s Nothing Is Wrong. The collection further amplified Dawes’ remarkable gifts, matching the loose extemporaneity and crunchy dynamism of the band’s live sets with deft musicianship and intuitive, expressive songwriting.

Along with critical admiration and an ever-growing fan following, Dawes has earned high regard from many of their greatest heroes, including Benmont Tench (of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers fame) and Jackson Browne, who invited the band to support and back him on an array of dates both here and abroad. In addition, the one and only Robbie Robertson was so impressed with Dawes that he selected them to serve as his backing outfit for a number of promotional performances.

The band continues to live life on the road, performing countless headline shows and festival sets to the delight of audiences around the world. Following in the footsteps of rock’s giants while simultaneously carving out their own distinctive niche, Dawes have embarked on an extraordinary musical journey, a long-term trip that has only just begun.
