Love As Laughter

Listen to Timers

Love As Laughter began as a bedroom cassette project by Sam Jayne in the mid 90's during the last days of Lync, Jayne's chaotic youth core band that is still heralded today as a highly influential and potent part of the early 90's punk underground. Love As Laughter's early releases were an attention deficit disorder fueled mix of messy pop, beats, noise, and the kitchen sink that appeared on 2 home made cassettes and the first CD release, THE GREKS BRING GIFTS, released on K records in 1996. Following that release, Jayne employed friends Dave Schneider (Lync) and Jessica Espeleta to turn LAL into a punk informed rock band with a solid foot in 70's pop, rock and blues.

Since then Love As Laughter have made records for Sub Pop and Isaac Brock's Glacial Pace label, and are now also self releasing vinyl and cassettes on Jayne's label, Trademark Of Quality. The latest single is 'Timers', a reverbing gallop through time and love.

Psychedelic-pop sensibilities, dirty, irreverently fingered guitar work, and enigmatic songwriting have earned Love As Laughter comparisons to artists from the Rolling Stones and Shocking Blue to Led Zeppelin, Sonic Youth and Bruce Springsteen. From Tom Petty to The Buzzcocks to Jimi Hendrix to Jack White.

Over the years Mr. Jayne has played with a rotating lineup of talented friends, taking Love As Laughter around the world on tours with Modest Mouse, Dinosaur Jr. , The Shins, Beachwood Sparks, and more.

The new Love As Laughter lineup may be "the best one yet" claims Jayne, and features Miguel Mendez, Sonia Manalili, and Lee Hinshaw. The band is incredibly excited in 2013 to bring their most recent sound and comraderie to the masses. New songs, new spins on old favorites, new lineup, and a new lease on what we still call rock n roll. Bring it.
