Summer Flake

Listen to No More

Summer Flake is from Adelaide, Australia. It sounds like harmony-filled, lo-fi, melodic, garage, guitar pop.

Summer Flake is the umpteenth musical project for multi-instrumentalist Steph Crase, but the first one that sees her taking the lead as the sole singer, musician, composer, producer, engineer. Before Summer Flake, Steph performed for a decade in seminal Adelaide bands Birth Glow, No Through Road, Hit The Jackpot, Awesome Welles, Avant Gardeners, and Fair Maiden, and in 2008 she joined Melbourne/ New Zealand outfit Batrider and toured the UK, Europe, North America, New Zealand and Australia a whole bunch, playing everywhere from New Jersey basements to Big Day Out festivals.

Summer Flake has a new new EP "Where Do I Go?" available in 2013 on cassette and digital download through Heavy Low Records – the new boutique label venture from Australian pal Stacey Wilson, of Faux Friends Records, Terrible Truths and Rites Wild fame. The new EP is lyrically darker and sonically more stripped back than 2012’s "Summer Flake EP", with equal allusions to ‘60s girl groups and ‘90s indie underground. "Where Do I Go?" still manages to reflect the unique nuanced guitar phrasing and dreamy reverby vocal melodies Summer Flake has become renowned for.

Steph Crase is currently finishing up the debut Summer Flake LP for release later in 2013.
