Which Comes First: The Story or the Money?
Austin and Central Texas are exploding with startups and startup events like Startup Week, pitch competitions and demo days, building an identity as a hub for tech entrepreneurship. What gets covered impacts what succeeds and many outlets only cover the big events or investments. What gets covered also impacts the way the nation sees what’s going on in the Austin and Central Texas startup world. This panel will examine how the local media sees its role in the Austin startup ecosystem, and what the startup world wishes the media did differently.

A finalist for Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year award, Bryan has 20 years of experience founding and growing Exact Systems (1991), Perficient (NASDAQ: PRFT) (1997), and Fusion Learning Systems (2001).
He is active in Austin’s technology scene, and is a co-founder and Mentor of Capital Factory, a seed stage mentoring program for technology companies. Bryan is the publisher of AustinStartup, which highlights emerging technology companies in Austin, and is an investor and advisor to a select group of companies. He also serves on the board of the Austin chapter of Texchange.
