"Twenty Feet from Stardom" follows several diverse and gifted backup singers living in the shadows of superstardom. These singers belong to the first family of American voice and represent a range of styles throughout late 20th Century music. Their stories resonate with themes of sacrifice, triumph, stardom, and the glory of achieving that perfect blend of harmony. Their voices are indelible, but their names remain unrecognized. This film serves as a tribute to those who have dedicated their lives, without acknowledgment, to the music we all know and love. Now is their turn for the spotlight. They are the backup singers.
