Connie Hwong Community Mgr GigaOM

Connie is the Community Manager at GigaOM, a San Francisco-based media company that covers emerging tech news, produces technology conferences, and offers research and analysis of emerging technology markets. She is responsible for the company's social media strategy, the development of new programs and events, and management of the research analyst and subscriber communities. Prior to GigaOM, Connie worked at companies such as AOL, Zendesk, and ROI DNA on content production, strategy, and community engagement and management.

Before entering the tech industry, Connie spent five years working with nonprofit organizations in the art, culture, and technology spaces. She served as the grants manager for BAVC, where she worked on the MacArthur Foundation-supported Producers Institute for New Media Technologies, and she also served as a grants committee member on the San Francisco Arts Commission's Cultural Equity Initiative.

Connie is also a freelance music journalist and former editor. Her work has appeared in Flavorpill, XLR8R, and Alarm, and she has worked with San Francisco's Noise Pop Festival.
