Nightmare Air is a new sonic experience from members of Film School (Beggars Banquet Records) and Chicago shoegazers Airiel.
Guitarist / vocalist Dave Dupuis (Film School) and drummer Mikey Lovechilde (Airiel) teamed up in Los Angeles in 2010 and began working with long time friend and bass player Swaan Miller. Fronted equally by the mesmerizing vocals of Swaan, and the magnetizing vocal wails of Dave, the members of Nightmare Air have taken from the ashes of their years of touring, supporting heavyweights like My Bloody Valentine and Swervedriver, to do what their bands did best…alternative / psych/ shoegaze/ indie rock, this time turning up the BPM's, the noise and energy.
Nightmare Air has been compared critically to Silversun Pickups, A Place to Bury Strangers, No Age, My Bloody Valentine and The Smashing Pumpkins.
As the polar opposite to Swaan Millers folk inspired acoustic album on Important Records with J. Mascis bandmate Asa Irons on guitar, In Nightmare Air her voice is still gold but sits atop swirled delays, the electric fuzz of her bass and the howling layered loops of Dave Dupuis' guitar.
In their short lifespan, Nightmare Air have already toured much of the US, held residence in LA and Seattle, Have been air-lifted to Canada to headline 4 nights at the Canadian Music Week Festival, The band have held top ten status on KEXP and have had spins on BBC. All this on the heels of their home recorded debut EP.
Nightmare Air are finishing their first full-length album now in Los Angeles with Dave Schiffman (Mars Volta, Dead Meadow, BRMC, Nine Inch Nails,The Bronx) Release date early 2012
