A child of hip-hop and a student of contemporary electronic music, Monolithium’s sound is the axiom where funk, techno and grime coalesce into concise, focused dancefloor pressure. His debut EP, Simon & G-Funk (via Error Broadcast) is packed with psychedelic crunk from another realm altogether, combining the structures of hip-hop with tough, sexy grooves & colourful synth work.
Live, Monolithium twerks his own diced-up tracks and exclusives, hammering out rhythms on his Ohm64 midi controller yielding a fluid mix of the best of what the global underground dance continuum has to offer. Monolithium has played alongside Girl UNIT, FaltyDL, Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, dEbruit, Salva & Bok Bok. This past June, he played MUTEK to a rapturous reception & in September, he opened for the Night Slugs crew at Decibel Festival in Seattle. With new sounds due in 2012, expect varied tempos, collaborations & more funk from this engaging new producer.
