Sacred Bones Records was born in Brooklyn, New York in early 2007, with the intention of bringing our friends’ music to light, as well as unearthing music lost to time. Our main focus is on vinyl, but our releases are also available in digital formats.
We are deeply fortunate to have a co-operative of gifted people working with us: a filmmaker who directs our music videos, a print maker who handles the production of our complicated packaging and a graphic designer who is responsible for our album layouts, website and one-sheets. We put as much energy and care into the presentation of our records as each band does to their music.
CATHY BAUER, General Manager at Daptone Records, worked her way up the ranks at Lookout Records from the era of Mr. T Experience and the Hi Fives to Ted Leo and Pretty Girls Make Graves. She then served clients, looked behind the curtain, and marketed varied genres of content at the digital aggregator IODA. In earlier years she booked all-ages DIY punk shows, and throughout recent years consulted with bands and labels alike. At Daptone Ms. Bauer is responsible for sales and marketing of releases by Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Charles Bradley and The Sugarman 3 which entails working with distributors, customers, management, PR firms, radio partners, and under the watch of 2 musician/owners, she is and integral part of the ultra-small team of three at Daptone. It can be said there is likely no aspect of the independent label business she has not touched.
JENNI SPERANDEO has a 15-year career in radio promotion, tour promotion, artist development and event marketing. She has worked independently in radio promotion and artist management, as well as in executive positions at record labels such as Rhino, Astralwerks, Virgin, Shout!
