Keeping Loyal Consumers Engaged by Shaking Sh*t Up
So you’ve developed a loyal consumer-base and built a strong foundation for your business. Now what? Thrillist’s evolving business model has been making headlines: by “mingling content and commerce” (New York Times, March 2011), industry experts have described Thrillist as “the future of media” (Wall Street Journal, May 2010). And with these changes, Thrillist’s revenue has quadrupled.
Thrillist co-founder and CEO Ben Lerer will help you to see the bigger picture, illustrating the breadth of possibilities for evolving your online business. Lerer will draw on his experiences with Thrillist and the multitude of companies he has invested in through Lerer Ventures to give an extensive look at the development of online businesses, and what works and what doesn’t.
Ben Lerer is the co-founder and CEO of Thrillist.com, a leading men’s multi-platform lifestyle publication with over 3 million daily subscriptions in 20 localized markets in the U.S. and the U.K. Since its launch in 2005, Lerer has overseen the growth of Thrillist's marketing, sales and business development efforts, as well as its expansion into e-commerce with the acquisition of members-only online retailer JackThreads.com and the launch of localized deals platform Thrillist Rewards.
In the last year, Lerer was among Crain’s “40 under 40” class of 2010, Entrepreneur Magazine’s “Top 5 Entrepreneurs of the Year,” and Silicon Alley Insider’s “100 Coolest People in Tech” for the 5th year running, in addition to being featured on the cover of AdWeek’s “Digital Hotshots” Issue and the front page of The New York Times’ Business Section.
Lerer serves on the Board of Directors for the East River Development Alliance, a New York non-profit organization and is an Associate Member of the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS). He is also the co-founder of Lerer Ventures, a New York-based Angel fund investing in media and technology.
