Radio-Free Yoga: Self-Realize x Social Enterprise

#sxsw #radioguru

No sticky mat necessary, though we'll address sticky situations arising from poor online social media manners and how to heighten our collective consciousness as upright citizens of the social media community through the lens of the yamas--the five universally ethical disciplines of yogic philosophy that govern how we interact with others. Transcending creed, country, age and time, these include non-violence, truth, non-stealing, continence, and non-coveting. We'll explore how online social media's far-reaching platform coupled with the implementation of the yamas breeds powerful potential for personal growth and philanthropic progress. No matter the model, the domain, or the product/mission/vision: the tipping point that will bring home humanity’s collective blue ribbon in advancing positive social change is perhaps best liberally paraphrased in the words of Krishna in the yogic text, the Bhagavad Gita: 'You have a voice and a purpose. For Pete’s sake, use them.' As online bodhisattvas-in-training minding our Ps and Qs and setting our integrated intentions toward information, news and POV dissemination, together we can, in the words of Gandhi, be the change we wish to see in the world. We'll share wellness tools to support you while you’re off saving the web wide world and explore the value added to both the person and the populace in bringing mindful media to the masses, one heartfelt hashtag at a time. Don’t worry, we won’t make you chant (well, maybe we will).

Diane Ferraro Partner Where Is My Guru

A New York-based, worldly-wise for-profit and not-for-profit executive with more than fifteen years of experience in fundraising, event planning, publicity, and organizational management, I’m an entrepreneur leading my own consulting company and co-host and partner of the live weekly online radio show, Where Is My Guru (www.whereismyguru.com), a social media hub dedicated to advancing the melioration of individuals, communities, and the environment by bringing mindful media to the masses. Practicing yoga since 1995 and still struggling to touch my toes, service-- or seva in Sanskrit--has long been a core element of my career and personal drive. Having switched my major from Journalism to receive a B.A. in English with a Writing Concentration, being “that kid” who forsook water games like “Marco Polo” in order to save drowning bees from the pool, and spending time on the improv stage in New York City, I’m excited to return to an original interest in pursuing stories that empower while combining my passions for communication, philanthropy, and speaking into microphones without a script.

Swimming the seas of healing, service, social media, consulting and encouraging others to examine their own limitless possibilities, Jessica constantly looks to expand her knowledge of sustainable health and wellness for herself, others and the planet. She adds Improv Comedy Performer and Corporate Trainer to her resume and hopes to never satisfy her unquenchable desire for travel and exploration.

Whether in a business suit or yoga clothes, Jessica will continue to bride the gap with the world and the light that dwells within each heart. Because of the wealth of experiences, teachers and mentors who have guided her along her path she cultivates savvy, innovative approaches to make the world a better place each day and lead with compassion, from the heart.
