Indie labels are having a banner year, with Merge's Arcade Fire winning the Grammy for Best Album of the Year and Glassnote's Mumford and Sons going Platinum. Join panel moderator Karen Glauber, marking her 25th SXSW attendance, as she fronts a group of industry pioneers who offer a perspective on being successful by doing it their way, in a world where major labels no longer control the music business landscape.

Born in 1981 in the Philipines, and raised in Singapore as an Indian citizen, PRIYA DEWAN has a decidedly international view of the world, and particularly the music business. In 2005 Dewan moved to New York City, where she was hired as office manager at Warp Record's US office. In that position, she was able to further showcase her talents, which included creating marketing campaigns, bringing in brand partnerships and helping expand the label’s pedigree in North America. Again, within a short time she had worked her way up to label manager, and now runs all North American operations for Warp. She has since negotiated two lucrative distribution deals for the US and Canada, overseen the retail and press campaign that landed Warp’s highest ever chart debut in the US – Grizzly Bear’s Veckatimest came in at #8 on Billboard’s Top 200 in May of 2009 – and hosted Warp20 (New York), the successful series of concerts and screenings celebrating the label's 20 th anniversary. Dewan continues to spread the Warp brand throughout North America through great releases, merchandising and live events, working closely with artists such as Battles, Jamie Lidell, Flying Lotus and many more, ensuring the artists have both great exposure and enduring careers while still maintaining their independence and creative freedom.

In 2007 Daniel Glass fulfilled a longtime dream and launched the independent Glassnote Entertainment Group, which has already had great success with platinum artist Secondhand Serenade and VH1's "You Oughta Know" singer songwriter Justin Nozuka. Glassnote has recently signed North Carolina based rock band Jonas Sees In Color, currently recording their debut album with Aaron Johnson producer of The Fray. Also just announced at Glassnote is the signing of the critically acclaimed rock band PHOENIX whose new album, "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix," will be released this summer.
