When iTunes first launched, the pricing strategy mimicked the physical pricing strategy. Now that the digital market has matured a bit and there are multiple stores to create products for, there are many more options to consider when releasing music. Metric found success in their D2C store, deluxe digital packages are all over the iTunes Top Albums chart, The Raveonettes believe in the multi-EP model between albums and the addition of tracks for $1.29 seems to have stalled the growth of digital track sales. There is plenty of data available to demonstrate what works and what doesn’t, so we’ll discuss the successes we’ve experienced and how we've refined the strategies that were not entirely successful.

BRAD NAVIN was appointed to Chief Executive Officer of The Orchard in February 2010. Prior to being named CEO, Brad served as Vice President and General Manager, where he oversaw global marketing, licensing, operations, and was responsible for the implementation and supervision of the company’s global business strategy. DAVID HYMAN, a self-proclaimed music junkie, is CEO & founder of MOG Inc., a next generation music media company. MOG’s award-winning, on-demand subscription music service provides unlimited access to over 10 million songs from over a million albums through its mobile apps, online, & on streaming entertainment devices (e.g. Roku).

CHARLES CALDAS is CEO of Merlin, the global rights agency representing the world's most important and valuable set of independent music labels. Merlin seeks to ensure its members have effective access to new and emerging revenue streams and that their rights are appropriately valued and protected in the digital marketplace.

MARCUS WHITNEY is CTO and Co-Founder of Moontoast, a Social Commerce platform that serves Musicians, Specialty Retailers, and Celebrities. He and the team at Moontoast are cracking the code of monetizing Social Media channels and writing the new rules of online fan acquisition and capitalization.

CATHY BAUER, General Manager at Daptone Records, worked her way up the ranks at Lookout Records, served clients and content at a digital aggregator, booked all-ages DIY punk shows, consulted with bands and labels alike and there is likely no aspect of the independent label business she has not touched.
