Pete Cashmore, founder and CEO of Mashable, will interview Dennis Crowley, Foursquare CEO and co-founder, about how a new wave of location-based applications are changing the way we interact with our friends and surroundings, as well as how these new mobile technologies, when combined with enhanced game dynamics, are helping people experience the world around them in new and different ways. They will also discuss some of the core ideas behind foursquare's approach, the company's vision of the future, and how products that create serendipity will play an important role going forward.

Dennis Crowley CEO/Co-founder Foursquare

Dennis Crowley is the co-founder of foursquare, a service that mixes social, locative and gaming elements to encourage people explore the cities in which they live. Previously, Dennis founded dodgeball.com, one of the first mobile social services in the US, which was acquired by Google in 2005. He has been named one of the "Top 35 Innovators Under 35" by MIT's Technology Review magazine (2005) and has won the "Fast Money" bonus round on the TV game show Family Feud (2009). His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Wired, Time Magazine, Newsweek, MTV, Slashdot and NBC. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP). Dennis holds a Master's degree from New York University's Interactive Telecommunications Program and a Bachelor's degree from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University.

Pete Cashmore is the founder and CEO of Mashable, an award-winning site and one of the largest and most popular destinations for digital, social media, and technology news and information with more than 40 million pageviews per month. Mashable has been named a must-read site by both Fast Company and PC Magazine and is ranked as the most influential media outlet by Klout. Pete founded Mashable in 2005 as a blog focused on up-to-the-minute news on social networks and digital trends. Since then, Mashable quickly grew to be one of the top 10 and most profitable blogs in the world. Pete was named one of Ad Age’s 2011 influencers, a Time Magazine 100 in 2010, and a Forbes magazine web celeb 25. He was also named a Briton of the year by the Telegraph in 2010. Pete is based in San Francisco and divides his time between California and New York.
