Utilizing elements of DIY and punk rock collage, we created this music video for Philadelphia-based U.S. Girls on an ordinary photocopier. The source materials were cut from old women’s magazines found in junk stores. Alike images were grouped to create repetitive animation cycles, mirroring the way the original images were presented in these publications month after month. By utilizing replacement animation, we wanted to reinforce the idea that these women, products, and lifestyles were in themselves completely interchangeable.
