Filmmakers are increasingly attending to issues related to sustainability and are "greening" their productions. While there is a lot of "green-wash" out there, there are models of sustainable production that cut through myths and uncertainties. Using "The Code of Best Practices in Sustainable Filmmaking" published in 2009 (sustainablefilmmaking.org), we will provide insight and inspiration through actual case studies to show you how going greens not only saves the environment but also saves you money.
Meredith Bergmann is a founding partner at Green Media Solutions (GMS), a consulting firm that works with the entertainment industry to develop and implement sustainable production practices on set and behind the scenes. GMS has worked with NBC Universal, Focus Features, Paramount, HBO and The Producers Guild of America.

Strike it Green was started in New Orleans as the film industry grew and i saw the amount of waste generated by film productions. Whole sets were being destroyed, filled with useable materials for other projects in film and rebuilding.
We now offer a warehouse full of set dressings, set components, props and wardrobe.
We work with studio films, indies, schools, artists and musicians, and help support the indigenous Louisiana filmmakers.
Recently, we have branched out into providing decor for events and parties from recycled film sets.
