Alexandra van Huffelen

Having seen firsthand the human negative impact of artificial intelligence as a junior finance minister in 2020— more than 25,000 people were wrongly accused of fraud to get child care benefits because of a faulty artificial intelligence algorithm used by Dutch tax authorities – the Dutch Minister of Digitalisation, Mrs. Alexandra van Huffelen leads the way in advocating for strong human rights safeguards for the use of artificial intelligence. Recently, as one of the first countries in the world, the Netherlands presented its government-wide vision on Generative AI.
