Brigitte Tousignant is a communications expert and writer. She currently works at Hugging Face as head of communications, the leading open platform for AI builders, where she is actively contributing to covering, and amplifying Hugging Face’s ethics, policy, and responsible AI initiatives. She previously was the lead science journalist at Mila – Quebec AI Institute, where she closely collaborated with Mila’s founder Yoshua Bengio and researchers to distill technical AI research to a wider audience. Brigitte earned her Master’s in journalism from Concordia University, where her research focused on the current and future ethical implications of AI in Canadian newsrooms. Brigitte formerly worked as an investigative reporter at the Institute for Investigative Journalism, a national consortium that uncovered levels of lead worse than Flint in Canada’s drinking water. As part of the investigative team covering Quebec, Brigitte won the Judith-Jasmin Award, Quebec’s highest distinction for journalism, and was a finalist for the Michener Award, the highest distinction in Canadian journalism.
