A pioneer and innovator in TV and digital media, Anthony Wood is the Founder and CEO of Roku, a name that means “six” in Japanese to represent his sixth company. Roku is the No. 1 TV streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico (by hours streamed, Hypothesis Group – Dec 2022).

Anthony was also founder and chairman of BrightSign, the global market leader in digital signage media players, which was spun out of Roku. Prior to Roku, Anthony invented the digital video recorder (DVR) and founded ReplayTV, which won “best of show” at CES in 1999 and was the first DVR to be sold. He served as President and CEO of ReplayTV before its acquisition and subsequent sale to DirecTV. Before ReplayTV, Anthony was co-Founder and CEO of iband, Inc., an Internet software company sold to Macromedia in 1996, after which he became vice president of Internet Authoring at Macromedia. The iband code and team were important contributors to Macromedia’s Web authoring software tool, a product now known as Adobe Dreamweaver. Earlier in his career, Anthony was Founder and CEO of SunRize Industries, which made digital media hardware and software for non-linear audio recording and editing.

Anthony holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.
