Chris Ernst is Chief Learning Officer at Workday. He’s responsible for leading Workday’s talent strategy, including talent management, leadership effectiveness, learning and development, and pioneering the use of Workday’s technology internally.
Before joining Workday, Chris served as the global head of people and organization potential at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Chris also served as vice president of leadership and organization effectiveness at Juniper Networks and spent the first fifteen years of his career as a leadership advisor to organizations around the world at the Center for Creative Leadership.

Chris’ thought leadership is published in top academic journals and outlets such as HBR, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and MIT Sloan Management Review, and in authoring three books, including the best-seller, Boundary Spanning Leadership: Six Practices for Solving Problems, Driving Innovation, and Transforming Organizations.
Chris holds a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and lives in Palo Alto, CA with his wife and growing-too-fast kids.
